Brief History
The Association of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco is a worldwide organization of the Past Pupils of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The movement springs from the interest and affection which binds the Past Pupils to Don Bosco and to the Salesian family.
Carlo Gastini, leader of the Old Boys as they used be called at that time, using a statute drawn up several years before by Don Bosco himself organised the old boys into local groups, unions and societies, right up to the proper organisation promoted by Don Filippo Rinaldi
Through the association, the members wish to maintain and develop the insights and inspiration received at the school of Don Bosco. Past pupils belong to the Salesian family by reason of that special bond forged by their being educated and nurtured in a Don Bosco institution.
The Mumbai Provincial Foundation was established in 1954 and the First Election of the Mumbai Provincial Federation was held on 20th January 1974

A significant hallmark and a great strength of the Don Bosco Society is its Past Pupils Associations. This feature goes all the way back to the days of our founder Don Bosco, when in 1870, the past pupils’ movement began. From then on, for over a century and a half, the Don Bosco Past Pupils have been a vibrant force across the world.
In the Mumbai Province (Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan) we are blessed to have very active Past Pupils Associations in most of our schools, and a dynamic Past Pupils Provincial Federation. All the members of these various associations, and some of them have passed out of school close to fifty years back, have a great attachment to their schools, fond memories of their teachers, and the determination to live by the values they learnt at school.
A truly admirable quality of many of our past pupils is that they are committed contributors to society. Several of the Past Pupils Associations, supported by the Provincial Federation, have launched various social initiatives, particularly in favour of education for poor and disadvantaged children. Having received an excellent education themselves, they are now finding ways of ensuring that the underprivileged children in our society are also able to receive a good education.
Being good citizens and positive contributors to society is the best badge that a Don Bosco Past Pupil can wear!

My dear Past Pupils,
It gives me immense joy to address you on this website page which has been created anew. I am associated with Don Bosco from my childhood. It's 57 years since I have been associated with the sons of Don Bosco. I am thrilled to reconnect with you and invite you to stay engaged with our institution through this dedicated platform. As cherished members of our community, your presence and participation enrich our shared heritage. Here, you'll find a wealth of resources, updates, and opportunities to reconnect with fellow alumni, reminisce about cherished memories, and stay informed about upcoming events. I look forward to welcoming you back to our virtual campus and fostering meaningful connections that endure beyond our institutions.
Past Pupils need to go deeper into their Identity and their Mission, and create a synergy with the other groups in the Salesian Family. One needs to remember that what had begun as SDB Past Pupils confederation in 1911, today stands as one of the largest groups in the Salesian family. But, unfortunately not all past pupils contribute to the synergy at the same level. We need to be united in spite of our differences in our social, cultural and religious upbringing.
There seems to be three types of past pupils today. The first group are those who consider themselves being a past pupil just by default. It happened by chance. For them it is just a memory nothing more.
The second group of alumni are those who consider their passing through a Salesian Institution as a blessing. They consider the Salesian education that they received as a moment in which they learned to be grateful and feel an affection towards Don Bosco.
The third group are those who consider it not only a blessing but a commitment too. Hence, they feel the need to reassociate once again with the Salesians to help young people in need. They are like Charles Gastini and others who came with a heart to express their gratitude to Don Bosco, a meaningful gesture of thankfulness. They are grateful for the Reason, Religion and Loving kindness they experienced in the Salesian Institution. They are grateful for the education they assimilated. They are willing to commit themselves to contribute to the betterment of society. They are ready to work for the welfare of all especially the poorest of the poor and the marginalized youth of society.
In spite of the differences of faith, they recognize their vocation to help create a new society, where peace and harmony reign supreme. They are willing to be inserted in different fields of the social, cultural and political life of the nation and thus collaborate with the Salesians in continuing the mission of our Father and Founder Don Bosco.
The principle must always be, ‘To give their best to those whom they work for’. It's now time for you to return back in whatever way possible, for all that you have received. Do share your intelligence, your time, your resources, your connect and your power for those Youngsters who are longing for another person like Don Bosco, who will take them to the new world they long for.

Dear Boscoites,
I am Pravin Agrawal, and I am honored to serve as the Provincial President of the Association of Past Pupils of Don Bosco, Mumbai Province.
Having been a part of this esteemed association for over 26 years, I have witnessed the profound impact we can create when we come together as a community.
My journey with the association began with a simple yet powerful desire – to give back to society and our alma mater, Don Bosco. It has been a fulfilling experience, contributing to shaping future generations and fostering values instilled in us at Don Bosco. As the Provincial President, my primary goal is to strengthen the bonds among our fellow Boscoites in the Mumbai Province, which comprises more than 22 units of past pupils from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.
By fostering connections, we can establish a robust network capable of providing unwavering support to one another. Through our association, we can nurture fellowship, organize meaningful get-togethers, and initiate outreach programs to aid those in need. Together, we can work tirelessly towards the betterment and progress of our institute, our fellow friends, and cherished "chaddi buddies."
In honouring our history, it's vital to acknowledge Carlo Gastini, the visionary founder of the past pupil's movement. His dedication and foresight laid the groundwork for what our association stands for today – unity, service, and camaraderie. Also, I'd like to invite you all to engage with the GEX Unit, an integral part of our association. The GEX Unit plays a pivotal role in fostering global connections and promoting Don Bosco's values worldwide.
Let us embark on this journey together, embracing the spirit of Don Bosco and continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
